EXILIS - RADIO FREQUENCY

As we age, our skin naturally becomes more lax. Throw in sun and environmental damage, along with lifestyle choices and this process accelerates. Everyone could use a little skin tightening on some area of their body. To achieve that, Sahara now offers the Exilis device to tighten the skin and provide body contouring.

The Exilis system debuted in 2012 and was awarded the “Best Skin Tightening Device” at The Aesthetic Show in Las Vegas that year. Since then, Exilis has gained a loyal following. Exilis uses radio frequency (RF) energy to heat the skin and fat cells. This twofold approach shrinks fat cells and tightens the skin by strengthening the collagen network.

WHAT IS EXILIS?

Exilis is the newest FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment for body shaping and skin tightening. It uses monopolar RF waves to deliver controlled heat approximately 1-3 cm under the skin. The heating caused by the radio frequency energy causes a wound reaction in the dermis, the skin’s second layer. This reaction is a remodeling of the collagen network, which tightens the skin. The heat also causes some of the fat cells to shrink. Exilis provides two different heads for the handpieces, one for the body and one for the face. Throughout the procedure, the machine monitors skin temperatures to ensure the patient is always comfortable.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH EXILIS?

At Sahara Medical, we use Exilis to tighten skin and lose inches in typical problems areas: neck/jowls, arms, décolletage, bra strap area, abdomen, male chest, thighs, hips, buttocks, and the knees.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS WITH EXILIS?

Over the four years Exilis has been on the market, there haven’t been any side effects beyond some slight short-term tenderness in the treatment areas. There isn’t any pain during the 15-30-minute procedures, with patients describing the treatments as feeling warm and slightly tingly. There is no downtime.

HOW LONG DO EXILIS RESULTS LAST?

As with CoolSculpting, Exilis results are permanent. Over the next 2-4 months after your treatments, your results continue to improve as collagen builds. Of course, while the procedure encourages new collagen production, the natural aging process continues to proceed.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR EXILIS?

Anyone who has areas of loose skin is a good candidate for Exilis. Basically all areas of the face and body can be treated.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Patients begin to see results after just 1-2 treatments, but the best results generally come after 5-6 treatments. We schedule successive appointments every one to two weeks.”
